After consulting with Zajac's surgeon, the decision was made for Zajac to rest his repaired Achilles tendon. With the NHL All-Star break, Zajac will miss only two weeks of actual competition.
Zajac underwent surgery to repair the Achilles, that was torn during off-season training, on Aug. 17, 2011. Following surgery, Zajac rehabbed the injury, but was unable to compete at training camp or in the first two months of the season. After returning to the ice, Zajac has one goal and two assists in eight games. He has not played since Jan. 2 in Ottawa because of ongoing soreness.
Zajac was examined by his doctor in Winnipeg and he recommended the shutdown.Tags: Hockey, New Jersey, New Jersey Devils, NHL, Travis Zajac
