After having their five-game winning streaked snapped on Thursday night against the St. Louis Blues, the New Jersey Devils will look to get back to their winning ways and continue their consecutive-points streak today against the Florida Panthers.
Devils goalie Martin Brodeur, who had to miss Thursdays game, returned to practice yesterday and will start today.
"It's feeling good," Brodeur told Dave Hutchinson of The Star Ledger. "It's night and day. Almost all the swelling is down. That's what slowed me down. In practice, I didn't miss a beat."
The injury news isn't as good for wingerr Ryan Carter, who had to be placed on injured reserve with a fractured finger.
The visiting team today has won more games in February so far, three, as they did in all of January, two. After going 2-3-4 in January, the Panthers allowed the Washington Capitals back into the Division race. The Panthers are lead by their top line of Tomas Fleischmann, Kris Versteeg, and Stephen Weiss, their top-three scorers. Brian Campbell has resurrected his career in Florida, registering the second most assists (34) among all NHL defensemen.
