Mascot and Cheerleaders

The New Jersey Devils are one of the few teams that have not adopted Ice Girls as members of their support team. They do, however, have one of the most recognizable mascots in sports. Not surprisingly, the team is cheered on by a life size cartoon Devil sporting a New Jersey hockey sweater. He is one of the tallest mascots in all of sports, measuring over seven feet tall. He is seen throughout the New Jersey areas attending community events to support causes and raise awareness for the teams, while also attending other sporting events such as Somerset Patriots and New Jersey Jackals games.

NJ Devil, as he is known, has also appeared in multiple “This is SportsCenter” commercials on ESPN. In one, he interacts with anchor Jay Harris, who asks NJ Devil if the elevator is going up, to which the mascot shakes his head no. He has also gotten into a bit of an office war with the mascot of the Pittsburgh Penguins, in a clash to control the thermostat.
